Sunday Best
Show some respect... No, show a lot of respect.
Today many Catholics believe they do not need to dress-up for God at Mass. They say: "it's what's in my heart that counts." So what is in our hearts? Perhaps it's love - but do we require anything else for Mass? We go to Mass to worship God because we love Him, but what is worship?
Worship is showing reverence, honour, homage, and adoration for God... However if you look into the definitions of these words, they all consist of one word - respect.
Therefore to worship is to publicly show our respect, it is not something we have in our hearts and not show it. Furthermore, showing respect is not only acting respectfully, but it is also dressing respectfully.
How little respect we can give to God in His "Real Presence", when we think we can keep getting away with acting our way through the worshiping of God like rehearsals, and not coming to Mass appropriately dressed for our the Holy Communion with the King.
Yes God is love, we may want to see Him that way, and in that we can dress how we like. We can also pass over the fact that He is also King and with His kingship - all the due respect of his people.
However the fact still remains, God is love and He is also King, not a King in waiting in Heaven, but a King waiting for us in Holy Communion. Should we not at least give our best for our King.., our Sunday best?
